March Madness Fundraiser

CALLING ALL Parents, Students, Faculty & Friends!

The Chestnutwold PTO’s Annual March Madness Fundraiser runs from March 17 through April 8. All brackets must be purchased and payment received by March 19. All brackets must be entered online before the start of the first game on March 19. Winners will be announced after the final game on April 8. Half of all proceeds will support the PTO’s fundraising goals, and the other half will be awarded as follows: Winner 60%, 2nd place 25%, and 3rd place 15%.

  1. Buy up to 3 brackets via Venmo or cash/check. $10 per bracket with a limit of 3 brackets per person.

  2. We’ll email you access to your brackets when they become available on 3/17

  3. Complete your online bracket before the first game begins on 3/19

Virtual Variety Show

Chestnutwold’s Got Talent!

Calling all Chestnutwold students! Show us your sports skills, singing talents, magic tricks, dance moves, and special abilities! All the talented kids in grades K-5 are encouraged to send in their video submissions, which should be:

  • 2 minutes or less (1 submission per student)

  • submitted AS EARLY AS POSSIBLE, but no later than March 30th 

  • sent from a parent/guardian email that includes the student's name and grade

  • sent to chestnutwoldvarietyshow2024@gmail.com

This year's Virtual Variety Show will be debuting on Friday April 5th at 7 PM on the Chestnutwold PTO Youtube Channel!

Starting at 7pm or you can search for Chestnutwold PTO on youtube from any device. If your TV, Roku, Amazon, iPad, Phone computer or anything has youtube, you will be able to watch the show! The video will be live at 7 PM, but it is not being broadcast live, so you can start watching (or re-watch) any time you'd like after 7 PM. So gather up your friends and family and enjoy the show!

If you want to test and make sure you can get to the video on your device of choice you can search youtube for Chestnutwold PTO and last year's show is up there. It's a great way to test and make sure you are all set. Happy Viewing!

MLK Day Acts of Service Event

Come out to celebrate the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr with an educational and service program in the Chestnutwold cafeteria from 10:30-12 on Monday, January 15th (MLK Day and MLK's actual birthday!).

Chestnutwold students will have the opportunity to learn about the Little Rock Nine who were the first students to desegregate their high school and Joseph McNeil, Franklin McCain, Ezell Blair, Jr. and David Richmond who were inspired by Martin Luther King to start the Greensboro Sit-ins. We’ll also be writing cards for seniors to be delivered to the PALM and Quadrangle. There will be a storytime at 11:00. Students will have the chance to make a pledge on the Be a King board to show how they can keep Dr. King’s legacy alive.

November 17th, at the CREC  Multi Purpose Room

Doors Open at 7pm - Quizzo begins promptly at 7:30pm

The cost is $30 per person. The ticket includes multiple rounds of Quizzo and exciting prizes for the winning team! 50/50 raffle tickets will be available for purchase – remember to bring cash! 

You can also reserve your table of 8-10 people for $240 - 300. All table reservations must be made with one check or one Venmo transaction. You may register as an individual or couple (and we will assign you to a team) or as a full team of 8-10! (You must register as a full team, we are not taking partial team registrations).  BYOB - must be 21 to attend and BYO food, food trays, plates, cups, etc.

Young Writer's Day (in school activity)

Young Writers Day is Back! On Friday, November 17, over 15 local authors will meet with our students to show them what different careers in writing might look like and engage them in some fun writing, reading, and creative activities. Each homeroom will have 1-2 one-hour sessions with the invited authors, who run the gamut from local sports journalists and children's book authors to poets, illustrators, and songwriters. This has historically been a very special day for the kids, writers, and volunteers.

Spirit Wear Sale

Fall/winter SPIRIT WEAR ONLINE SALE:

Our Chestnutwold Spirit Wear sale is live!  Shop for your students and their adults. Sale will end Tuesday 11/7 so that orders will be ready at C&M Sporting Goods in time for the start of Hanukkah 12/7. 

You will find many standard favorites seen at our in-person sales in addition to some on-line ONLY options. 

A few highlights: Take a look at the Ventura line.  These are an athleisure material (think Lululemon and Athleta).  They are soft, cozy and flattering. Per many requests we have brought back the football jerseys and an adult ringer tee. We have added the Chestnutwold Junk brand headbands (a la Brandon Marsh and Bryce Harper). There are a few new hat styles not available in person. Last but not least, most styles have a choice between two graphics so choose your favorite.

The Sale will close 11/07/23! So don’t wait, check it out now!

Trunk or Treat

We are so excited to see everyone on Friday, October 27 from 6:30-7:30pm! Park your car, truck, van (or broom!) in the school's parking lot and decorate your trunk into something silly or spooky! Hand out candy to the kiddos as they pass by. Prizes will be awarded to the top cars!

 In order to make the night a success, we are asking each family of trick-or-treaters to please donate 1 bag of candy to the event. Families decorating their cars are asked to bring only candies for giving away (donations are welcome but not necessary). 

 There are multiple ways you can help:  decorate your car, donate candy, help clean up, or do all 3!

Phoenix Fun Day

Phoenix Fun Day brings our Chestnutwold families together for an afternoon of fun, games, and more! This annual event is a favorite tradition to kick off the school year, meet new families, and build the Chestnutwold community. It also serves as our biggest fundraiser of the year, paving the way for the PTO to fund  many items and programs throughout the school year.

Phoenix Fun Day features games, inflatables, crafts, and an obstacle course; it also includes an hour-long dance party with games!  Pizza, baked goods, and spirit wear will be available for sale. All members of the school community are welcome to join the fun!

We've got some exciting new things planned for this year, including a new activity, PLUS, raffle baskets generously donated by local businesses. Raffle tickets will be available for purchase at the event.

**This event is RAIN OR SHINE! In the event of inclement weather, much of the event will be located in the gym.

The Chestnutwold Chase

Welcome back Chestnutwold runners!

We are excited to offer two races on the day of the Chestnutwold Chase (Sunday, May 21). The one-mile fun run will occur first at 8:30 and will be followed by the 5K at 9am. Registration will include a  t-shirt if you want one. Be sure to add t-shirt(s) and size(s) in your registration. Strollers, walkers, and friends and neighbors are welcome. Please spread the word!

 Registration is open until May 18 but the t-shirt deadline is May 1, 9pm. The cost for a single runner is $30 and a family is $90.

Art Show

The Chestnutwold Art Show is back as part of the Evening of the Arts on Thursday, May 4, 2023. Ms. Esposto, fourth- and fifth-grade chorus, and third grade will perform music from 6-6:30 p.m. in the gym. After the performance, families are welcome to circulate Chestnutwold to enjoy art created by all of our students under the direction of Ms. Kasmer or Art in the Classroom from 6:30-8:00 p.m. Refreshments will be in the cafeteria.

We cannot do this event without a lot of volunteer help. Sign up to design the program, hang artwork after school, set up the ceramics displays, and/or serve refreshments. This is a great way to contribute to our school community.
